Hillsborough victims remembered in court

Tributes have been paid to the victims of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, where 96 Liverpool football fans died.

David Aspinall spoke about his brother James, aged 18, at the inquests in Warrington – their mother Margaret has helped lead the families’ fight for justice.

He said: “A darkness fell over our family on April 15, 1989 and it is only now, describing what a decent human being James was, that it’s finally given our family a shard of light into that darkness.”

Paul Hewiston, Graham Roberts, Peter Harrison, Gary Church, Michael Kelly, Paul Murray, Kevin Tyrrell, Henry Burke, Philip Steele,
David Benson and Peter Burkett were remembered too.

n The government is making ‘urgent inquiries’ into reports Whitehall computers were used to write insults about the disaster online.
