Man in court charged with street robberies in Hillsborough


A man is due to appear in court in connection with a number of street robberies in Hillsborough.

Joel Fletcher, aged 21, of Burngreave Road, Burngreave, was charged with three counts of robbery, a theft and a burglary.

His is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today.

Fletcher is accused of stealing a necklace from a woman in Middlewood Road on Wednesday, April 8.

Two further robberies were reported to police on Sunday, April 12.

Fletcher is alleged to have stolen a chain from a 60-year-old man, while he was waiting at a bus stop in Middlewood Road.

A necklace and ring were allegedly taken from a 41-year-old woman as she walked down an alleyway off Langsett Road.

Fletcher has also been charged with theft in connection with an allegation that a woman in her 60s had a necklace stolen in Morrison’s supermarket in Hillsborough.

He has also been charged in connection with burglary at a house in Foxhill, which was reported to police on February 10.
