Murder inquiry after death of attack victim

A murder investigation is under way after a man died in hospital just over a year since he was violently attacked in Sheffield city centre.

Richard Ismail, aged 45, suffered a serious head injury in an altercation outside Lloyds bar in Division Street on November 11 last year.

Mr Ismail - nicknamed ‘Moody’ - was most recently being treated at a rehabilitation centre in Stocksbridge, but died on Sunday.

DCI Natalie Shaw, leading the investigation, said more witnesses are needed. Call 101.
