Photograph and flowers left at crime scene after murder victim is named as Danny Irons

Floral tributes have been left at a police cordon close to the spot where a man, named locally as Danny Irons, was killed on a Sheffield estate.

Danny, aged 32, who was a father, was found seriously injured on Fretson Green, Manor, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to his plight but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into his murder was launched and the crime scene remains cordoned off and under police guard this morning.

Among the floral tributes left close to the murder scene is a framed photograph of Danny.

Candles have also been left there.

Cards containing heartfelt messages have also been left including one which reads: “I love you with all my heart, I love you more than anything.”

Another from his aunt Karen and cousins reads: “Words cannot express how devastated we all are that we have lost you Danny.

“You will be in our hearts forever.”

Another, addressed to 'Danny Boi’ reads: “You will be truly missed by many.”

His friend Andy wrote: “You was like a brother to me and many others. You was always there when I needed you.

“You will be deeply missed – that laugh and smile.”Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oughton, leading the police hunt for his killer, said: “I know this incident will concern the community who live in the Manor area and I’d like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to find those responsible.”

He said there will be a significant police presence on the Manor estate over the next few days while investigative work is carried out in and around the crime scene.

Door-to-door enquiries are being carried as officers search for anyone who saw or heard anything which could be vital to the investigation.

An appeal has been issued for witnesses to come forward and detectives also want to speak to residents who may have CCTV footage of importance.
