Police hunt man over sex attack and robbery in Sheffield

A man is being hunted by police after he sexually assaulted a woman and stole her handbag in Sheffield.

He struck in an alleyway between Broad Lane and Garden Street, Netherthorpe, in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said the man’s victim was alone after becoming separated from friends.

After the attack he ran off towards Solly Street.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The woman was attacked and seriously sexually assaulted by an unknown man in an alleyway when she became separated from her friends.

“The man stole her handbag and fled the scene, running along Garden Street and in the direction of Solly Street.

“The woman is very distressed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.”
