Police investigate spate of burglaries in Sheffield

A policing team in Sheffield is investigating five burglaries committed in one area of the city on the same day.

Offenders broke into homes on Vivian Road, Firth Park; Holgate Avenue, Parson Cross; Hesley Road, Lower Shiregreen; Vauxhall Road, Wincobank and Newman Drive, Wincobank, on Tuesday.

Police said a lock was forced at the house on Holgate Avenue, while doors were forced open at homes on Hesley Road and Vauxhall Road.

The Newman Drive property was broken into through the patio doors.

South Yorkshire Police launched Operation Lockdown last year following a spike in burglaries across the county.
