Hide AdDetective Constable Mo Khan said: “Premi had been in Kettle Black for much of the evening of 10 January, when he had an altercation with another man. The pair were removed from the bar by doormen, but both returned a short time later.
“Once back inside, Premi took a firearm from under his clothing and pointed it towards the man he’d been arguing with. He fired in the direction of his victim and then went on to attack the man, pistol-whipping him in front of a crowd of people and causing significant injuries.
“Premi then fled the bar, casually hailing a taxi on Ecclesall Road as if nothing had happened just moments before.
“Officers who were alerted to the incident unfolding pursued the taxi and then followed Premi on foot as he tried to escape through Ponderosa Park. They bravely tackled him, not knowing whether he was still carrying the weapon. He was detained shortly afterwards and found in possession of a knife.”

Hide AdDC Khan added: “I cannot stress enough what a terrifying incident this was for everyone involved; it happened in a bar on one of the most popular streets in Sheffield. This behaviour will not be tolerated and we are working extremely hard to deal with violent crime such as this.
“Premi is quite rightly off the streets as he poses a real and potent threat to the safety and wellbeing of the public. I want local people to be reassured that we have brought him before the courts and that he has received a custodial sentence.”
Premi, of Treswell Crescent, Hillsborough, pleaded guilty to assault, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a bladed article at an earlier hearing and was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court.
