A school minibus, van and car have all been destroyed in separate suspected arson attacks in Sheffield overnight.

Police are investigating all three incidents, which occurred several miles apart at different times of Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

In the first incident, firefighters from Elm Lane fire station were called to Barrie Crescent, Southey Green, at around 8.30pm to reports of a van on fire.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said a neighbour’s CCTV had picked up a group of youths putting a lit firework inside the Renault Master vehicle. The van’s owner had been in the area to visit a relative when the incident occurred.

The spokesman said: “The van was totally destroyed.”

At 9.45pm last night, crews from Mansfield Road and Central fire stations were called to Spring Lane School in Arbourthorne after a school minibus was set alight, with the vehicle destroyed in the blaze.

In the third incident, a car was burnt out in Blake Grove Road, Walkley.

A crew from Rivelin fire station spent around 45 minutes putting out the fire after being called to the incident at 12.50am.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents should call police on 101.
