A suspected device found at the former Don Valley Stadium has been found to be safe by explosive experts.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were called to the site to assess the metal item and found it is not an explosive device.
The device was discovered in Attercliffe this morning and Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts are at the site.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “No-one was evacuated and the tram service, which was stopped while enquiries were carried out, is up and running again as normal. The surrounding roads were unaffected.
“Our thanks go out to the public for their patience and co-operation while we made sure the site was safe.”
