VIDEO: Van destroyed as Sheffield vandals throw lit firework inside

Caught on camera - two vandals throw a lit firework into a van in Sheffield, starting a fire that destroyed the vehicle.

Two young men are seen on the CCTV footage throwing the firework into the vehicle and then running off down the street as it explodes.

The incident happened last night just after 8pm on Barrie Crescent, Southey Green.

Firefighters were sent to the scene and put out the blaze but the Renault Masters van was completely destroyed.

The footage has been sent to The Star by a resident from a neighbouring property.

It was the first of three arson incidents in Sheffield over Saturday night and Sunday morning.

At 9.45pm last night, crews from Mansfield Road and Central fire stations were called to Spring Lane School in Arbourthorne after a school minibus was set alight, with the vehicle destroyed in the blaze.

In the third incident, a car was burnt out in Blake Grove Road, Walkley.

A crew from Rivelin fire station spent around 45 minutes putting out the fire after being called to the incident at 12.50am.

Police are investigating all three incidents.
