'Damned petition!' - Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner shares thoughts on bizarre 'banish the beard' campaign

Arctic Monkeys'˜ Alex Turner has shared his thoughts on a bizarre campaign that calls for him to shave his beard off.

The online petition, entitled 'Alex Turner banish the beard', has been launched on the change.org website and attracted more than 2500 signatures.

It was launched after the lead singer of the Sheffield band was recently pictured sporting some newly grown facial hair.

He was made aware of the petition during a new interview with German website Intro.

Turner responded: "I had no Idea. But it amuses me.

"It’s really crazy that people are so interested in hairstyles and stuff.

“I’m sitting here with a damned petition that’s about my looks!"

The Sheffield band will release new album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ on May 11.
