Sheffield’s Loxley Silver Band is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund.
The band, which rehearses in Stannington, was originally established in 1889, and today has more than 30 members aged from eight to 82.
The musical group has been busy in the run-up to Christmas, giving free performances in local villages.
Stuart Young, of Loxley Silver Band, said: “In addition to the main band, we try to encourage the local community to get involved and come along to our weekly rehearsal sessions as part of a training band.
“This donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund will enable us to contribute towards some more instruments for new people to take home and try.”
Galaxy Hot Chocolate helps small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating cash awards to support projects.
