“I’ve said it before: this team is never beaten,” said director of rugby Clive Griffiths reflecting on the club’s last-minute win.

“We’ve pulled a few rabbits out of the hat this season and we did so again today.

“The disruptions we had today were immense with injuries and then Paul Jarvis coming off just before half-time, but the boys who came off the bench were magnificent again and we beat them in a different way to Rotherham (in our last home game).

“We played football and to be fair to Carnegie they came to play today and everyone who turned up saw a cracking contest. There were eight tries and that’s the way rugby should be played.

“Some of the tries we scored were moves we introduced specifically for this game and the opposition.”

Commenting on two-try hero Andy Bulumakau, the Welshman said: “Andy is a dynamic player and although he’s not the biggest of players he takes some putting down.”

The club will be checking on Jarvis, who limped off with a foot injury on 38 minutes, today.
