IT’S party season.

And if you’re looking to get dressed up for a bit of festive fun on Hillsborough Corner then why not take a leaf out of Wednesdayite Rebecca Taylor’s book.

She converted this season’s Sheffield Wednesday home shirt into a dress for an appearance on stage at the Shepherds Bush Empire earlier this year.

And doesn’t it look the business!

Owls fan Rebecca, of Sheffield band Slow Club, used spare off-cuts of Ozzie Owl’s kit to design a Wednesday-themed dress for their headline appearance at the London venue, which she also wore for their homecoming gig at The Leadmill.

“My idea was to make a dress that was something stylish and like something I would normally wear,” said Rebecca.

“When we play these big London gigs I just freak out not knowing what to wear - I hate being a girl like that!

“We played Shepherds Bush Empire, which is really massive, so I’d decided to wear a Wednesday shirt to feel comfortable. I then thought it would be cool and special to make it into a dress. It’s just a smock kind of thing but it looks really nice.”

Rebecca now lives in London but attends games whenever she can.

“Wednesday are such a big part of my life and I love Hillsborough so I go to matches every time I am home.

“It is difficult living far away so wearing the dress is another way of me supporting the club and saying I’m from Sheffield.”

Life-long fan Rebecca said the club helped make the dress extra special.

She said: “I contacted the club and the best thing they did was send me some off cuts from Ozzie the Owl’s new outfit to make the dress long enough. So that is what it is made of, it’s Ozzie’s kit, which makes it even better.”
