Around 50 people had to be evacuated from a Rotherham pub following a fire in its cellar last night.

The incident happened at the Fitzwilliam Arms on Taylors Lane, Parkgate at around 11.20pm last night.

Three fire engines, two from Rotherham and one from Elm Lane, were sent to deal with the fire, spending about 90 minutes at the scene.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire had been related to drinks cooling equipment in the cellar.

He said the fire was contained in the cellar, which suffered smoke damage.

No one was injured in the incident.
