Pupils dress as book characters at Sheffield school’s open day

Step into a world of fiction and fantasy as Sheffield’s Westbourne School hosts its annual open day on Thursday.

Pupils and staff will be dressing as their favourite literary characters to celebrate World Book Day as they greet visitors to the school in Westbourne Road, Broomhill.

Running from 10am to noon, the event will give parents and children the chance to take a look around the independent school, explore the new Westbourne Place facilities and the extension to the pre-school.

Angela Bywater, Westbourne marketing manager, said: “We hold the open day on an ordinary school day, so we can give families a chance to properly experience the atmosphere of Westbourne life and see for themselves our close-knit community at work.”
