A 60th anniversary reunion is being planned this September by former pupils from a Sheffield grammar school.

The friends all passed their 11-plus and won places at the old City Grammar in the city centre in the autumn of 1954.

The celebration lunch will be held in The Bessemer pub on Leopold Street, close to where the original school was based in what is now the Leopold Square development.

Many of the group have stayed in touch and hold monthly get-togethers and run their own website Omnes Amici.

Organiser Pat Grayson said: “City Grammar was the first co-educational grammar school in the city and all of us have a great affection for our time spent there and are grateful for the wonderful education we gained as pupils.”
