More courses are to be run in Sheffield to help older people get up to date with new technology and feel less isolated, allowing them to use Skype and to send emails to family and friends.

Heeley Development Trust has been inundated with applications for courses on ‘Ipad for beginners’ and ‘Moving on with Ipad’ at various locations in the south and south west of the city.

There have been waiting lists for each course, with the oldest learner, aged 82, “thoroughly enjoying” courses in Crosspool. New courses will be run after Easter, merging the two courses in to one 10 week course.

The trust says it is currently the only non-profit making community organisation consistently carrying out and developing such courses.

Details will appear in Telegraph Listings.
