SYNTHPOP legends Heaven 17 will lead a showcase of Sheffield’s best loved acts to open this year’s free-for-all music festival next Friday.

They will kick off the weekend’s proceedings on Nokia’s ‘Unannounced Stage’ at Barkers Pool - and will be joined by several more surprise acts for a unique celebration of the city’s rich musical heritage.

Last year they celebrated their 30th anniversary and will now return to their hometown to entertain 3,500 festival-goers on the new Nokia Unannounced Stage.

Fans will also be able to watch the opening show at Nokia’s UK Facebook page: facebook.com/nokia.uk or by clicking Tramlines TV: tramlines.org.uk/tramlines-tv and logging on. Heaven 17 join a record of over 600 artists confirmed to play across the weekend, including Pixie Lott, Guillemots, Nerina Pallot, dubstep forefather Zed Bias, UK hip-hop legend Jehst, plus Ash, The Futureheads, Toddla T, David Rodigan, Dels, Ms Dynamite, Dry The River, Shy FX and more - all performing for free.
