Enjoy a night at the movies with a bang

A large new community centre in Oughtbridge will open with a bang on Monday night.

The first major event for the pavilion is a professional Oughtibridge firework display.

Called A Night at the Movies, the display will be set to famous movie sound tracks including James Bond, Star Wars and Harry Potter.

One of the UK’s leading pyrotechnic companies Pyrovision has been enlisted to run the event.

The company has previously created displays for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, the Brit Awards, Edinburgh Castle and have toured with Coldplay.

The Oughtbridge War Memorial Sports Club pavilion was completed earlier this summer after the previous one was washed away in 2007.

Ian Sanderson, Denise Tyers and Steve Truelove were asked to join and run the club as chairman, secretary and treasurer.

They were asked to set up a new social section making use of the facilities.

Along with the award-winning sports facilities, there is also a new lounge with bar and kitchen.

It aims to ensure the War Memorial pavilion is used and enjoyed by as much of Oughtibridge and the surrounding area as possible.

Lifetime membership to the pavilion is £5.

Ian said: “We will be holding some quality functions and events at the ground in the smart new bar and lounge, which can accommodate parties of up to 70 people.”

There will also be a childrens funfair, with DJ and free prize draw on the night.

Tickets are on sale at Oughtibridge Kitchens but numbers are limited so it is advised to book early.

Doors open at 6pm, Monday 4 November.

The display kicks off at 7.30pm.
