Audio walk for reserve

VISITORS to two nature reserves near Bolsover can find out more about the history of the area by downloading an audio trail.

The trail gives information about the Peter Fidler and Carr Vale nature reserves, and can be downloaded onto mobile phones or mp3 players.

Walkers can hear about the life of Peter Fidler, who was born in 1769 next to the former colliery site, and became a famous explorer and chief surveyor of the Hudson Bay Company in Canada.

The trail also tells how the site was developed from a coal mine into a wildlife reserve and how miners found a fossilised prehistoric dragonfly in Bolsover colliery.

The audio can be saved to an mp3 player or iPod from a home PC or laptop at www.audiotrails.co.uk/peterfidler.
