SHEFFIELD councillor Colin Taylor will run the 13.1-mile Great North Run on Sunday, September 18 to raise money for Diabetes UK after being diagnosed with the condition in 1998.
The 55-year-old said: “I took up running ten years ago after I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes as a way of keeping fit. I’ve taken part in the London Marathon but this year I wanted to take on a challenge closer to home.
“I also wanted to highlight the issues around diabetes, a largely unknown condition, and show that even with diabetes it’s possible to live a normal life.”
The Liberal Democrat councillor represents East Ecclesfield.
