Further tree felling planned for Sheffield woodland

Further tree felling and thinning is planned in Greno Woods in Sheffield this autumn.

The woods, in Grenoside, are managed by the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust with the aim of reverting some of the conifer plantation to native oak woodland.

Work is to be carried out in this month after the bird nesting season.

Some bike trails may be temporarily closed.

Greno Woods Project Manager, Chris Doar, said: “One of our priorities is the wildlife on site.

“We will be vigilant in our care to avoid damage to badger setts, water courses, sites of ancient monuments and any trees favoured by nesting birds of prey.

“We realise some public enjoyment of the site will be affected by the felling works.”
