New orchard to be planted in Sheffield

A replacement orchard is being planted in Sheffield after thieves stole trees from a previous one.

Grow Sheffield helped the Friends of Richmond Park plant an orchard in the park in March but the trees were later stolen.

Now the organisation has found a new site for the orchard, which is much more overlooked to help keep the trees secure.

Grow Sheffield has donated some apple trees and hopes to plant them on Thursday, June 11 from 10.3oam onwards.

The organisation is appealing for volunteers to help with the planting near Hastilar Road South entrance to Richmond Park, off Richmond Road.

Buses 25 and 25A stop at the ‘Fishponds’ shops near the junction of Richmond Road and Hastilar Road South.
