A £2 million project has started in Barnsley to create two giant underground water storage tanks.
Yorkshire Water begin constructing the tanks at its reservoir near Roebuck Hill, which supplies customers in Jump, Hemmingfield and parts of Holyland and Wombwell.
It is part of a programme to upgrade dozens of reservoirs across the region.
The company operates various reservoirs, many of which are underground.
The underground tanks store treated drinking water before it’s fed to customers’ taps.
A lot of the tanks have been operating for between 25 and 100 years.
The tanks, which will hold the equivalent of 13,000 bath tubs of water, should replace the existing storage chamber in a year.
