‘Restore shopping centre road scheme’

LIBERAL Democrat councillors in Broomhill are pressing for proposed road improvements in the district shopping centre, including a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Fulwood Road and Crookes Road, to be restored to the council’s programme.

Coun Paul Scriven said the previous Lib Dem authority had consulted and allocated funds, “only for it to be pulled by Labour at the last minute.

“Local residents have been working on this for a number of years, so they will be hugely disappointed.

“We know that transport budgets are under pressure but we believe that this scheme deserves to be prioritised and the Labour Cabinet should have a rethink.”
