Work starts on £2.4m water pipes project

Work starts on Monday on a £2.4m project to replace water pipes in Gleadless Townend.

Severn Trent Water is warning of disruption as more nine miles of pipes are installed “in less than nine months”.

Contractors Laing O’Rourke are beginning in Stoneley Crescent, Charnock Dale Road, Jaunty Way and Quarry Vale Road.

A Severn Trent spokeswoman said: “We appreciate that work like this may be disruptive so we’ve made plans to install the new water pipes quickly as possible.”
