The team behind the town's successful indoor play centre Astrabound now want to branch out with a new venture which could be open by the summer if the proposals get the go-ahead.

The state-of-the-art indoor trampoline park will include a series of fun bouncing zones with interconnecting flat and angled trampolines for children to bounce on as well as games and competitive features such as dodgeball, slamdunk and parkour to provide fun and exercise for all ages.

Plans have been submitted to Doncaster Council and now the business bosses behind the scheme are calling on members of the public to support the proposal for the Go Bounce centre which would be built on the Shaw Lane Industrial Estate between Edenthorpe and Wheatley Hills.

Owners Kevin Bowles and Shaun Wilson, together with Jeff Ainsley and Dave Booth, founder members of House of Play, whose factory is based in Dunscroft and which set up Astrabound, are hopeful that Doncaster Council planning chiefs will give the scheme the green light.

Shaun said: "These are very exciting ambitious plans for Doncaster. Not only are we wanting to give people another great indoor play centre to enjoy but we are also looking to bring an economic boost to the region with lots of jobs and work."

He added: "We were originally a manufacturing business specialising in the supply of indoor soft play equipment but we have diversified over the last 21 years into a service business having opened Astrabound, the children's indoor play centre, eight years ago as a trading show site.

"That move has grown our manufacturing sales and now we wish to do the same by creating an iconic trampoline park in Doncaster to show off our product range. We have always believed in investing in our business and keeping it fresh and Go Bounce will give the local community another great indoor play centre to enjoy whilst also bringing an economic boost to the region."

Astrabound, the Crompton Road indoor play centre, has attracted thousands of children from across the country since opening in 2008.

Shaun added: “We intend to make the first few months of Go Bounce a celebration and as with Astrabound, we look forward to creating many happy times for so many people, young and old, to look back on with wonderful memories.’

"People from around the world will be able to come and see what we can offer and see the products in action and that will boost sales."

Up to 70 bouncers an hour will be able to use the Go Bounce centre through pre-booked slots. The centre will also include refreshment facilities and car parking.

But as well as bringing fun and enjoyment, the team are also looking to create jobs and employment - both in kitting out and running the new unit but also in creating new posts at the firm's Abbey Road factory in Dunscroft.

He added: "We are looking at potentially 150 staff for the factory and 25 for Go Bounce. We are dedicated to Doncaster and this will provide a massive boost for the local economy."

The plans to convert the former packaging factory are due to be discussed by Doncaster Council's planning committee shortly. If they are given the go-ahead, work could start within weeks with the centre open by June or July.
