Fire crew tackle car blaze on Sheffield estate

Firefighters had to respond to a car blaze on a Sheffield estate which has been blighted by suspected arson attacks.

A South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue crew from Rivelin station was called out to the blaze around 4.50am.

The incident occurred on field just off Baxter Drive in the Fox Hill/Birley Carr area.

A South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesman said the incident was ‘very difficult’ to get access to.

There have been at least 12 other suspected arson attacks, damaging around 16 vehicles in the streets surrounding Fox Hill since the start of 2015.

The blaze was recorded as arson.
