Five men face six-week trial over child abuse offences - as sixth defendant pleads guilty

Five men from South Yorkshire are to go on trial charged with historic sexual offences against two girls.

The men, who live in Rotherham and Sheffield, deny more than 20 offences relating to the two complainants and face a six-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court starting in January 2017.

The offences are said to have occurred between 1999 and 2001.

A sixth man, Amjad Ali, aged 37, of Broad Lane, Worksop, has pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 in relation to one of the complainants.

Ali pleaded guilty at a hearing with his co-accused at Sheffield Crown Court.

The other defendants deny all charges, which include rape, false imprisonment and indecent assault.

Basharat Dad, 31, of Eldon Road, Eastwood, Rotherham, denies six counts of rape, five charges of indecent assault, two of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and false imprisonment.

Nassar Dad, 35, of Cranworth Road, Eastwood, Rotherham, denies two charges of rape, two of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, two of inciting indecency with a child and false imprisonment.

Tayab Dad, aged 33, of St Lawrence Road, Tinsley, Sheffield, denies one charge of rape.

Mohammed Sadiq, aged 39, of Oxley Grove, Rotherham, denies one charge of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.

Matloob Hussain, of Doncaster Road, Dalton, Rotherham, denies one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.

A further hearing ahead of the trial will be held in September.
