For good food and value for money, Bistro Pierre. For a special night out, Fischers.

And pub?

A country pub with good English beer.

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?

In Iceland I had harkarl: fermented (rotten) shark, served in a sealed jar and tastes even worse than it smells – and it smells terrible. Never again!

And the best?

A nine-course tasting meal at Castel Engelenberg in Holland. The combination of wine and food was excellent.

Your favourite TV cook?

I’m having an Indian cooking phase at the moment, so Atul Kochar. I’ve got his book and have cooked many of his curry recipes – all delicious.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

There’s a shortage of good independent restaurants in Sheffield as chains seem to have taken over, which is a shame. The best are definitely the small independents.
