Are you a cook?

I like to think I am!

Any cooking tips?

My wife is trying to teach me how to clean as I cook, but the kitchen still usually ends up looking like a war zone after I’ve finished.

What’s your favourite dish?

You can’t beat a hearty homemade beef stew, especially at this time of year.

And a drink to go with it?

Either a nice glass of red or a bottle of beer.

Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?

I don’t actually eat out that much in Sheffield, although I’ve been to Ponti’s Italian Kitchen near our new office recently and it’s outstanding.

And pub?

The Sheffield Tap at Sheffield Station.

A great selection and a good atmosphere.

What’s the worst meal you ever had?

School rice pudding – it put me off rice pudding and jam for life.

And the best?

My wife treated me to a meal at L’Enclume (Simon Rogan’s two Michelin starred restaurant in Cartmel) for my 30th birthday – that was pretty special.

Your favourite TV cook?

I’ve always liked Jamie Oliver’s food, although my wife and I are really in to Joe Wicks ‘Lean in 15’ books and recipes he puts out through social media.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

It is always good and there’s a good mix of places – I should really try and do it more often!
