Former Sheffield United striker Jordan Slew has been caught speeding at 156pmh on the A1(M).
The former Sheffield-born player came through the academy at Sheffield United before he was signed by then-Premier League Blackburn Rovers for £1.1million.
Slew also played for Rotherham United on loan for a brief spell.
The 22-year-old was caught speeding on March 3 when police followed his BMW M4 down the motorway.
But Slew was going so fast, police struggled to catch up to him and it was only when another car weaved into the lane that Slew slowed to 130mph and police were able to apprehend him.
Slew pleaded guilty to exceeding the speed limit.
Slew was banned from driving for six months and given a £1,400 fine, as well as £150 costs, a £120 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
The 156mph recorded speed is thought to be the fastest recorded on Britain's roads in three years.
