Gifts for city’s vulnerable

Santa Claus will be coming to town thanks to the generosity of sheltered housing tenants and Sheffield Council housing staff.

They worked together to collect and donate toys, toiletries and other gifts for children and adults living in supported housing.

The service provides temporary accommodation for some of the most vulnerable families living in Sheffield.

Coun Harry Harpham, cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods, said: “Families often turn to the Supported Housing Service with nothing but the clothes on their back, sometimes escaping abusive households and domestic violence.
“We are fortunate to have incredibly compassionate and caring communities. As soon as the sheltered schemes heard about this initiative they got involved.

“Every child deserves a present at Christmas and I’d like to thank our sheltered tenants and our Sheltered Housing staff for their generosity.”

Involved were Blackberry Hamlet, Hollybank, Ernest Fox House, Charles Square and Blackwell Court.
