Hallam’s sled is a record breaker

A world record for the fastest sled was set with help from Sheffield Hallam University.

A team from Hallam’s Centre for Sports Engineering Research watched Guy Martin travel at up to 134.368 kph (83.49 mph) in the Pyrenees, smashing the 2010 record by more than 30kph.

The Sheffield experts designed and built the sled, which had a carbon fibre body supplied by Derbyshire-based EPM Technology.
