Happy birthday Kell Brook - and here's your present!
Brook turns 30 on Tuesday and knows that time will wait for no man at the elite boxing level. The IBF welterweight kingpin has been frustrated in his attempts to land a big name opponent, but rumours now suggest Vargas, the American champion of the WBO category, is willing to challenge him on his own soil.
While Vargas does not have the global pedigree Brook has been tracking, the fight’s unification feature would certainly help ticket sales and give it a global profile. Promoter Eddie Hearn could be working on the deal in the US this weekend.
