Bridging city’s inequality gap

WAYS of bridging the inequality gap in Sheffield will be debated on Saturday.

People and groups are being invited by the Sheffield Fairness Commission to give their views and ideas at the town hall from 9.30am until 1pm.

The commission, chaired by Prof Alan Walker, of the University of Sheffield, has been gathering evidence about tackling inequalities in a city where life expectancy ranges from 77 to 87 depending on where you live.

He said: “We want Sheffield to be a city that is free from damaging disparities in living conditions and life chances – a place in which every citizen and community knows and feels that they will be treated fairly.”; tel 205 3126.
