A care home provide has joined forces with Sheffield University on a project to look at the use of new technology as an aid to people living with dementia.
Bella Forsdike, aged 24, from Walkley, has joined Sheffcare as a research assistant.
The majority of Sheffcare’s 11 homes across the city now have dementia units and some of their residents have already been taking part in new research into how using games like Solitaire and Bubble Xplode on an iPad can help provide stimulation as well as provide entertainment.
Now Bella is going to extend the project.
“As part of the project I am looking specifically at the way in which music, pictures and video footage loaded onto a tablet device can be used to provide a simple interactive stimulus for residents living with dementia,” said Bella.
