Implant to ease osteoarthritis

A new implant which aims to help people suffering from painful osteoarthritis in their feet and ankles is being offered at a Sheffield hospital.

Patients can have the Cartiva implant – made of a special gel polymer – at the Claremont private hospital in Crosspool.

The procedure, carried out by Claremont consultants Chris Blundell and Mark Davies, has been developed for patients who have not responded well to other treatments.
