A Mexborough nurse who made lewd jokes to mentally ill sex-abuse victims has been struck off.
An industry disciplinary panel heard Mahadeo Roghoo, who worked as a mental health manager at Aspens House, made sexually explicit jokes relating to the size of his penis in front of two female patients.
Mr Roghoo was also found to have quipped about ‘sex and a foreign woman’ in front of another patient being cared for at the facility, which is based in Manvers Road, Mexborough.
Aspens House houses women who have rehabilitative needs as a consequence of mental illness, many of whom have experienced sexual abuse at some point in their lives.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council panel heard the Mauritus-born nurse also spoke inappropriately to female members of staff making comments such as ‘your bum looks nice in those trousers’ and threatened to ‘smack’ one support worker’s bottom.
Mr Roghoo was spared a ban two years ago by a panel who deemed the incidents arose from a misguided sense of humour.
However, an NMC panel this week ruled he should be struck off after not expressing any remorse or regret for his actions.
