At the age of 75 and with a knee implant, Sheffield councillor Peter Price is getting back in the saddle for a ride across Central America in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Appeal.
He aims to cycle 450 kilometres in six days through Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua from November 14,
Over 12 years, he has raised over £100,000 for cancer charities by taking his bike to Ecuador, Mexico, Cuba, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and from London to Paris. He has also climbed Mt Kilimanjaro.
Peter, who lost his wife, Janet, to cancer in 2000, said he is “fully aware that at his age this promises to be an extremely testing physical challenge, over some very difficult road surfaces”.
Along with other fund raisers, he will be “completely removed from the luxuries of western life, but really it is minor compared with the challenge cancer patients and their families face each day”.
He has to raise a minimum of £3,450, of which at least 65% will go to Macmillan. Visit www.justgiving.com/Peter-Price5.
