A senior director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been named as one of the country’s most influential healthcare leaders of the future by the Health Service Journal.
Kirsten Major, director of strategy and operations at the trust, was one of 25 individuals working across healthcare to win the Health Service Journal Rising Stars award.
The award celebrates up and coming young healthcare leaders who are making a difference to healthcare.
The long list of nominations was created from readers of the Health Service Journal and winners were judged by a panel of healthcare and senior NHS figures.
Kirsten began her career as a health economist in Scotland, rising to become an executive director for planning and performance before the age of 30. She then took up the post of executive director of health system reform at North West Strategic Health Authority before joining the Sheffield trust in 2011.
She said: “Innovation in healthcare is fundamental if improvements to patient care are to be made, so I’m privileged to have been singled out from hundreds of nominations across the country to win this award.”
