How Sheffield United players fared on international duty with England, Wales, Northern Ireland the Republic of Ireland

Defender Enda Stevens made his first start for the RepublicÂ of Ireland as Martin O'Neill's men made a bid to put behind them a turbulent week withÂ their friendly against Poland.

However, a confidence-boosting win was denied for the Irish asÂ Mateusz Klich cancelled out Aiden O'Brien's opener with a few minutes remaining.

In Belfast, Northern Ireland looked to bounce-back from defeat toÂ Bosnia and Herzegovina at the weekend as Israel travelled to the National Stadium for a friendly.

Oliver Norwood was impressive in Saturday's Nations Cup loss but he startedÂ on the bench for this one as MichaelÂ O'Neill gave opportunities to some fringe players.

The United midfielder came on at half time with Northern Ireland 2-0 up through goals from Steven Davis and Stuart Dallas.

Blades striker Conor Washington came on later and was denied a fourth international goal as his effort was saved by the visiting keeper, only for Oxford United's Gavin Whyte to knock in from close range on his debut to complete a 3-0 victory.

In Under 21s European Championships qualifying, Dean Henderson was in goal as England came from behind to beat Latvia 2-1 and put Aidy Boothroyd's side to within a win of going through.

Rhys Norrington-Davies was in the Wales under 21 side as they went down 2-0 to Portugal and end their chances of qualifying for the tournament which is held in Italy next summer.
