'˜Huge beast Puma' spotted in Sheffield villageÂ

A walker has described spotting a '˜puma' in a Sheffield village over the weekend.Â

The eye witness said they spotted 'what I can only describe as a puma.'

They added: 'I know that the chance of seeing such an animal in the wild, especially around these parts, are practically nil.

'However this was a huge beast by feline standards and was about two feet tall on all four legs.

'It seemed to be staring towards us but got spooked and took off towards the farmland adjacent.

'Has anyone else witnessed anything similar?'

This is not the first time a '˜big cat' has reportedly been spotted in the area.

In January last year people reported seeing a big cat stalking the countryside on the outskirts of Doncaster. 

And several years ago an expert from the Big Cats in Britain and the Centre for Fortean Zoology described South Yorkshire as a hot spot for big cat sightings.
