They are on tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fireworks, the debut album of Pele, Ian’s first band, including a show at The Greystones.

A venue spokesman said: “Fireworks is a classic debut album, bursting with energy and melody which gained Ian’s songwriting its first set of fans when the band toured the land constantly in the early 1990s.”

Pele released three albums in total – abroad they scored hits in Belgium, Germany, Portugal and notably a number one in South Africa with Megalomania, the second track on Fireworks.

Amsterdam are probably best known for Does this train stop on Merseyside, which Sheila Ravenscroft, widow of famous DJ John Peel, admitted he could not play “without crying”.
