Injured walker flown to hospital in Sheffield after falling in Peak District stream

An injured walker was airlifted to hospital after falling and suffering a suspected fractured shoulder and elbow.

The 49-year-old, from Staffordshire, was attempting to cross a stream while descending Crowden Brook, near Edale, when he fell.

A doctor and paramedic from a Yorkshire Air Ambulance were lowered to the ground to help the casualty before the helicopter found a safe place to land.

They were helped by members of Edale and Buxton mountain rescue teams.

The injured walker was flown to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for treatment.
