A builder from Sheffield has made it to the regional finals of a national competition to find the country’s best tradesperson.
Simon Meadows, aged 45, who trades under the name SM Construction, will compete against four other regional finalists in the Britain’s Top Tradesman 2014 contest in Leeds on Friday, October 3.
Simon, whose firm is based on Alison Crescent on the Manor, said: “I’m doing it because you read bad stories about builders, but we provide an excellent service and we look after our customers.
“I also want to help other builders see that it’s possible to do a good job, earn good money and keep the customer happy at the same time.”
Married man Simon is also the inventor of the Splash Stoppa, a safety device for the cleaning of cement mixers, launched on the market at the end of last year.
If Simon wins the regional stage of the competition, he will travel to Wembley Stadium in London on October 21 for the national grand final.
The overall winner will walk away with a new Toyota truck worth £28,000 to help them with their business.
The competition is being organised by Screwfix and aims to recognise and champion the best tradespeople in the UK.
