The 30 year old has been given a nod in the Comeback of the Year category, following her gold medal success at the World Championships in Beijing, 13 months after giving birth to her first child, Reggie.

"To come back from having my son and win a gold medal at the World Championships in Beijing exceeded all my expectations," said Jess.

"It was probably the toughest year of training I have had with so many injuries and physical changes to deal with along the way.

"My coach and medical team did an amazing job in getting me ready to tackle the heptathlon 13 months after Reggie was born - I still find it hard to believe I won. I would like to thank the world's media for nominating me."

Lewis Hamilton has been nominated for the Sportsman of the Year Boxer Tyson Fury and swimmer Adam Peaty have been nominated in the Breakthrough of the Year category, while Britain's triumphant Davis Cup team are among the contenders for Team of the Year. Racing cyclist Rachel Atherton has been shortlisted for Action Sportsperson of the Year.
