Between them the pair have won the Man of the Match award at each of the last three years events and have scored a remarkable eight times.

After already announcing the signing of England legend and current popular Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson last week, and amidst rumours they are about to sign a major Doncaster Rovers legend this week, the legends team seem determined to take the game to our charity fundraisers.

Darren Anderton, winner of 30 England caps and scoring seven times for his country, was a member of the famous Euro 96 team that was unfortunately eliminated in the semi-finals by Germany.

Darren was a scorer of one of England’s penalties that day and hit the post during extra time which could have sent the England team straight into the final.

On signing for the Legends Darren said, “This time of year there’s lots of opportunities to play in these type of games. It’s nice to put the boots on once again, see all the lads and of course do it for a great cause. Once you’re on the pitch it’s like you’ve never stopped playing, that competitive edge comes back and we’ll be looking to put on a show and win the game”

Both Darren and Lee Hendrie between them they have amassed over 600 top flight career appearances and scored 99 goals from midfield.

During the summers Euro 2016 football tournament they will take the field against a team of local fundraisers, mostly made up of school teachers representing their local school.

The charity heroes will raise money for local cancer charity ‘The Eve Merton Dreams Trust’ with the aim to answer a dream or grant a wish for some of Doncaster’s Cancer patients.

Its a fun local event aimed to benefit local people.

This year the event takes place on Saturday June 18th on the Doncaster Athletics pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium, allowing the charity to host a Family Fun Day at the same time as the game.

The match will kick off at 2pm with outdoor events starting from 12pm. Tickets available on the day for just £5 Adult, £3 Child (this includes all activities taking place), making it a perfect, affordable family day this summer.

Tickets will be available from Saturday May 7th via the Doncaster Rovers Ticket office 01302 762576.
