Letters: Yes, it will be time consuming & quite costly but let's do things the right way

Sheffield has always been well known for its urban trees - indeed for its whole parks and grounds system. The green city name was well deserved with an associated international reputation to boot.

Alright, some trees were planted without sufficient appraisal as to their future impact on their immediate surroundings such as underground services, shading, and interference with nearby buildings - but arboricultural technology is well established today and a suitable species/variety selected for a particular site is commonplace.

Alright, include representatives of developers as well but for goodness sake don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater! Yes, it will be time consuming and quite costly, but let’s do things the right way.
